Making Invention Accessible

Quirky’s goal was to “make invention accessible”. It created value by bringing together a community of inventors, filtering out the ideas, fine-tuning the design, manufacturing the product, and managing retail partners.

Logo

Invention shouldn’t be intimidating and neither are we. We have a handwritten logo, because inventions start as basic marks and doodles. Quirky lets you make your mark, and this is ours.

The Quirky logo can also be contained in an illustrated shape. We are constantly moving and evolving, so we like to keep our identity fresh and full of surprises.

Branding & Storytelling

At the heart of the identity lies a simple principle: that the one great equalizer in the creative field, the one all-embracing skill, is the ability to draw a stick figure.

Anyone, anywhere can draw a stick figure, and at Quirky, we believe that the ability to invent should be just as universal.

Each stick figure represents a real individual. In pattern form it communicates something more
— the Quirky community.

Quirky products are not average. Our packaging isn’t either. We tell our story at every chance we get, including shipping boxes. Our shipping boxes are quite special. Before your package leaves the warehouse, the number of people involved is handwritten on the box.

Packaging & Retail

Few other companies take on as many product categories as we do. We set up a color system to make sure our packaging looks organized at retail.

On the front we’re pretty slick —our packaging is fresh, bright and bold, and clearly communicates the product’s purpose. When it comes to packaging structure we use as little material as possible — allowing us to waste less while showcasing the actual product.

We have a lot of fun on the back of the pack — we use our house illustration style to show how to use the product. The illustrations also simplify the product, echoing that ‘ah ha!’ moment that could happen anywhere — in the shower, on line at the bank, or on the back of napkin.

Product & Photography

We make a lot of products across a lot of categories. Our photography style is fun and dynamic, yet flexible enough to work with something as simple as a kitchen scrubber or as big as a smart AC unit.

Our products are shot at interesting angles and floating in space to give our products a fresh perspective.

Misc

“Invention” is a scary word to a lot of people. We keep our tone of voice light-hearted, humorous and unintimidating.
